About the program.....

OBJECTIVE:

To enhance the recreational soccer experience for players and coaches.  The program is free to OYAA recreational teams in the U6, U7 and U8 age groups.  This program is designed to foster a positive, fun and creative learning environment that will supplement the standard practice and game schedule currently in place.  Through these sessions, OYAA strives to

  • Deliver skill development templates and training exercises that demonstrate proper teaching techniques for base skills
  • Provide support to OYAA Rec Soccer coaches
  • Expose children to different training methods, small sided games, and technical skills

Below please find a Q&A.  These questions will help you better understand the next steps.

How do OYAA Soccer Teams Sign Up?

1. Coaches determine if your team would like to participate in the skills training program. Recommend that this could replace one of your team's regularly scheduled practices.

2. Review the schedule that shows the available days and times (above)

3. Send an email to Mike Lentz (MLentz@insight.rr.com) and list IN ORDER, your teams 3 choices for Day, Date and Time

4. Mike Lentz will confirm availability via email your team's assigned day, time and field/zone

5. Communicate with your team's parents the day, time and location (All sessions are held indoors at SuperKick in Lewis Center)

How do Coaches & Parents get the information?

The OYAA recreational soccer team’s head coach will receive an email inviting their team to attend the R.S.T.P. skills training session.  This invitation will include details for his/her team’s schedule session.

Who is leading/coaching these sessions?

All session will be managed by members of the Classics FC Premier coaching staff and the SuperKick Soccer Training staff.   The staff member will provide a copy of the practice plan to each coach, as well as provide all cones and scrimmages vests needed for the session.

Do OYAA Coaches have to help with the session?

Recreational Head and Assistant Coaches are encouraged to participate in the session by assisting the lead trainer.  We believe this will help make the players feel more comfortable and enhance the learning environment for the players and coaches. Parents are welcome to attend and observe the sessions.

What If my team cannot attend the assigned session?

This is an optional training opportunity.  If unable to attend a Fall 2011 session, teams will have another opportunity in the Spring 2012.

What is the session format?  How long will it last?

The session will last 55 minutes, with 35 minute of foot skills training and 20 minute small sided training games.

What do the players wear?  What should they bring?

Players are encouraged to wear their OYAA team uniform to this session.  Players must wear shin guards and soccer shoes or tennis.  Players msut bring their soccer ball, and either water or sports drink.

The game of soccer continues to grow, and we want to foster participation and enjoyment of the sport for players of all abilities for as long as they wish to play.  In order to do this, we must present the proper opportunities from the start, and a progression of programs and participation levels that allow long term participation for all.

There are many talented soccer players who exhibit a passion and love for the game of soccer, but there are also children who enjoy the participation with their friends at a more basic level.  As Director of Soccer for OYAA, and Director of Coaching for Classics FC and Classics Eagles FC, it is clear that our community soccer program has a responsibility to expand the children’s experiences so they can continue developing as youth soccer players.
